Near fatal drowning, diving accidents & hypothermia
Dr Iestyn Lewis accompanied Karen on a trip to the gorgeous east coast of Tasmania to the picturesque town of Swansea. With summer quickly approaching and the population set to swell with campers and ‘shackies’, who all like to jump into the freezing Tassie water as soon as the temperature gauge hits 20 degrees Celsius……it seemed important to focus on a topic relevant to water activities. Dr Lewis therefore held an informative session on near-fatal drowning, diving accidents and hypothermia.
This was very well received and it is planned to follow up this session with an evening on adult Advanced Life Support (ALS) where the staff from Swansea and Bicheno can draw on their knowledge whilst participating in simulation scenarios.
